ACTOR BASHED AT GUNPOINT AFTER ROW WITH INDRIVE DRIVER

VETERAN actor and filmmaker, Trueman Chikukwa, says he was assaulted at gunpoint after a row with an InDrive driver over change.

Chikukwa, who gained widespread recognition for producing and starring in the cultural belief film “Rudo Ndimambo”, alongside Simon Jamukoko, says he was left with a swollen face from the beating he received.

His wife, who was also in the same car on their way home to Waterfalls, escaped from the fracas.

The couple ordered an InDrive Black Nissan Dayz from Jongwe Corner to Waterfalls New Stands.

Chikukwa said he captured a screenshot of the vehicle’s details on the InDrive application.

He has since reported the robbery case at Waterfalls Police Station.

He told H-Metro:

“I requested InDrive from Jongwe Corner along St Patrick’s Road.

“The driver, whose name is appearing as Courage, came and picked us up and when we were inside the car, I told him that we had US$20 and did not have any loose money.

“He then started accusing us of not telling him this before we entered the car.

“We handed over the US$20 to him but he did not give us our change.”

He added:

“We later discovered that he had changed the route and when we asked why, he only told us that he was using the easiest way.

“He started talking on the phone, advising the other person on the line that he would be there soon.

“He then arrived at a certain house where a lady and another man emerged.

“The man was holding a gun and they forced us out.

“Fortunately, my wife managed to escape with the bag, which had phones.

“They beat me and took my wallet, which had my ID and passport.

“Vakandirova musoro, I think he thought we had more money.”
