Actor Sipho Ndlovu is shocked that his role on Isitha: The Enemy has ended.

ACTOR shocked his character’s journey has come to an end.

And there were no signs Sipho Ndlovu’s role on Isitha: The Enemy would end.

The 39-year-old Sipho from Emalahleni in Mpumalanga said his unexpected exit led him to lose hope in returning to the small screen.

Sipho, who played Bandze, said he wasn’t ready to bid farewell to his character.

“I was even developing a bond with the character. It came as a shock to me to leave a character I love. I developed a close friendship with the character, but I understand that characters come and go,” he said.

Sipho said the acting industry is different now and there are a lot of gatekeepers.

“I don’t know what I did wrong to lose my character. I don’t know if I will still be back on TV. I hope that something comes up when I go to auditions, but I’m not shooting anything right now. You can see that I won’t make it at some auditions because of gatekeeping, while you can see that you have naturally failed at others,” he said.

Sipho, who also made a name for himself on The Wife, said he will not give up on his acting career.

“I’ll try to do different things on the side while I look forward to getting other characters on other productions,” he said.

He added that the acting industry is now difficult as many actors, including legends, are jobless.

“This is bad for the up-and-coming generation. How are we going to motivate them while we are demotivated? Where is the future of acting when legends cry that they don’t have money? Will you still motivate people to go and study drama?” he said.

Onkgopotse Baloi, e.tv marketing assistant, confirmed that Sipho’s character, Bandze will leave Isitha: The Enemy in May.
