Adebayor happy at Spurs

Emmanuel Adebayor says he is very happy at Tottenham and wants to continue at the club.

The Togo international who sees no end in sight to his stay this summer as he enters the final year of his contract with Spurs is aiming at a return to the starting 11 of manager Mauricio Pochettino at the White Hart Lane when the 2015/16 season begins in August.

“I have one year left and I’m very happy with Tottenham,” says Adebayor.

The striker claims that after a bad season, he is taking control of his off-field problems and working hard to return to what he loves doing best.

“My season wasn’t good,” Adebayor confessed.

“There were a lot of ups and downs – injuries, family issues but right now I’m putting all of them behind me.

“It’s been a long time since my legs got 90 minutes football and I’m working at being fit to play football again. Now, I’m moving on and want to keep doing what I love doing best – which is playing good football and scoring a lot of goals,” the former Arsenal and Manchester City man confidently said.

On May 21, Tottenham handed Adebayor a compassionate leave the second time to sort out his personal problems after he revealed once of contemplating to commit suicide in one of his serialised Facebook posts over a feud with his family.

He is currently on holidays in Ghana and hoping to join the Togo national team camp for this weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after an initial delay. – BBC
