Member of Parliament representing people with disabilities, Senator Nasper Manyau, personally invited a Sunningdale man living with albinism to a Disability Network workshop after reading about his plight in H-Metro.

H-Metro broke the story of 37-year-old Admire Kudakwashe Machingauta’s plight of being subjected to inhumane living conditions by his nephew after relocating from South Africa.

Admire was forced to sleep in the bathroom of the family house or in the neighbours’ yard and ate at funerals.

Only after H-Metro broke his story did relatives meet to address his plight. On Saturday, Manyau went with Admire to the Disability Network workshop to learn about self-help projects to sustain himself.

Admire thanked the Sunningdale community and other Zimbabweans locally and abroad for helping highlight his plight.

“God is for us all,” said Admire.

“I never thought that one day a Member of Parliament would take personal interest in my welfare. But this has all been made possible by the Sunningdale community which raised its voice on my behalf. It was amazing how Zimbabweans at home and abroad also stood up for my rights.

“Honourable Manyau, I didn’t know that there is someone who represents us in parliament.

“Vakauya kumba kuSunningdale, vakandipa mukana wekuvatsanangudzira nyaya yangu zvisinei nekuti vakangavaiverenga muH-Metro.

“She gave me her ear, spent time with me and promised to find ways of helping change my life.

“Today (Saturday) She came to pick me up and drive me to this place in Goromonzi to attend this workshop on self help projects.

“My life has changed and I am prepared to use whatever God has given me to be self-sustainable and to help change other people’s lives,” said Admire.

Workshop attendants were taught how to make bubble bath, toilet cleaner, dishwashing liquid, thick bleach, pine gel and petroleum jelly.
