ZANU PF UK District official Cde Xavier Zavare recently paid a courtesy call on the party’s Secretary General, Advocate Jacob Mudenda, in a meeting that reaffirmed the strategic importance of diaspora districts to Government and the ruling party.

The meeting was hosted by Advocate Mudenda, who is also the Speaker of Parliament.

In a statement following the courtesy call, Cde Zavare said the discussions underscored that diaspora structures are a “critical pillar” in advancing President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030—the national goal to transform Zimbabwe into an upper middle-income economy.

“Anchored on the mantra ‘leaving no one and no place behind,’ the meeting highlighted how diaspora structures ensure that Zimbabweans outside the country remain actively involved in national development and political processes,” Cde Zavare said.

The engagement recognised the steady organisational growth of diaspora wings and commended their leadership for strengthening mobilisation, unity and ideological clarity among members abroad.

“Notably, the party identified that these overseas districts have been instrumental in reshaping political perceptions, successfully re-engaging diasporans who previously held negative views about ZANU PF. This has contributed to a strengthened support base and enhanced the party’s international outreach,” said Cde Zavare.

A key economic focus of the discussions was the strategic channelling of diaspora remittances—a major foreign currency inflow for Zimbabwe—towards nation-building.

The meeting emphasised the need to align these financial contributions, which support households, investment, skills transfer and productive sectors, with broader national development priorities.

Cde Zavare’s meeting with Advocate Mudenda highlights the ruling party’s continued commitment to formalising and integrating its diaspora networks as active participants in the country’s political and economic future.
