AfDB starts professionals programme

regional integration and inclusive growth.
In a statement AfDB said the programme is part of the bank’s operation in regional institutional capacity building that will help integrate communities within the African region, and reinforce project ownership.
“As part of the bank’s YPP you will have the opportunity to work across the continent and be at the forefront of exciting bank initiatives that are helping to shape Africa’s future,” read the statement.
YPP is a highly competitive programme targeting motivated and talented young professionals under the age of 32 and committed to making a difference on the continent.
Those that would have been accepted will undergo a unique on-the-job training and development to prepare them for a rewarding career and future leadership roles within the bank.
AfDB urged the successful candidates to be committed to Africa’s development and demonstrate outstanding academic and professional achievement, as well as effective teamwork and leadership potential.
Besides being currently engaged in the YPP the bank further said African economies have made important strides in improving their economic environments in recent years, but much remains to be achieved to ensure that recent strong growth continues.

In particular, African governments must better harness the region’s resources through stronger integration into international trade and finance, improved educational systems, enhanced entrepreneurial opportunities for women and developing their tourism sectors, said the bank.
Regional integration has been a part of the bank’s service charter since its establishment in 1964, which is a reflection of the continent’s aspiration.
The AfDB group has invested significant resources, both financial and non-financial in supporting regional integration initiatives throughout the continent.
