AFM celebrated 100 years of spiritual activity in Zimbabwe in 2015 amid revivals all over the country that culminated in the church’s congregants meeting at its Chatsworth headquarters in Masvingo at Rufaro High School.

Youthful pastor, Pastor Muziyawo Nota, who is in his early forties, launched the district theme, ‘’Year of unstoppable divine elevation through grace.’’

He is sure that God will elevate congregants until they receive blessings from the almighty.

‘’People should aim higher in their day to day lives. 2 Samuel 9:1-13 inspires me. King David was magnanimous in victory.

In spite of his predecessor, Saul’s vengeful attitude towards him, he thought of doing something good to Jonathan’s surviving family in remembrance of his good friend.

In this season of giving, it is instructive to love our friends and give them the best things in life at our disposal. That does not mean we must hate our enemies. Far from it,’’ said Pastor Nota.

The theme is synonymous with hard work in the midst of the congregation. In other words, everyone must work hard to ensure that his or her family survives.

Mr Mtisi, the administrator had this to say about the theme, ‘’see the theme as a season of opening many opportunities. Many people are going to create many business opportunities’’

Many congregants must aim to be entrepreneurs because the economic atmosphere demands people who are innovative and that would ultimately make the church grow.

The deputy chairperson of the district was emphatic about the power of God in determining the destiny of people.

He quoted from the bible about how certain characters in the ancient world rose from the ashes and became God’s beloved. Of special mention was Ruth and Rakab who went on to become Jesus Christ’s matriarchs.

‘’Rakab was a well–known prostitute but in a season of plenty for her, she got into contact with the Israelite spies who promised her that she would survive the Jericho attack.

What did she do to deserve that? She helped the spies when their lives could easily have been lost at the hands of the Gentiles.

Ruth left her family in Moab and decided to stay with Naomi after the death of her husband. For her tenacity and love she was rewarded with a marriage to one of the foremost man in Israel, Boaz. Ruth just like Rakab was a Gentile.

Isn’t it ironic that two of Jesus Christ’s were Gentiles? Thus, it is evident that Jehovah loves everyone irrespective of origin,’’ elder Ngorima said.

It remains to be seen whether the congregants will stick to the theme of the year unveiled recently by the pastor.
