APOSTOLIC Faith Mission of Zimbabwe pastor, Learnmore Mutenha, claims he earns just US$50 a month.
He appeared at the Harare Civil Court yesterday where his ex-wife was seeking an upward variation in maintenance for their two children.
Pastor Mutenha’s ex-wife, Janet Badza, wanted an upward variation from $2 400 to US$300 for their children aged nine and 14.
“The children need a lot of things,” said Janet.
“He is a pastor, but I don’t know how much he earns. I also don’t know if he wants to pay maintenance considering that he has been defaulting.”
Pastor Mutenha offered to pay his “full” salary.
“I earn US$50 and I can give her my whole salary. I can pay 50 percent school fees if the children are transferred to a government school, and 20 percent if they remain at a private school,” he said.
Magistrate Ayanda Dlamini ordered him to pay US$60 maintenance and continue paying the children’s school fees.
The pastor grabbed headlines at the weekend after he was served with a warrant of arrest at his wedding in Kadoma on Saturday.
Yesterday, he briefly reunited with his two children.
He had not seen them since August last year.
His children hugged him, soon after he left court, and he waved goodbye to them.
“He last saw them in August last year after I took them there demanding school fees,” said Janet.
“Haatodi vana vake handizive kuti semufundisi angazokwanisawo here kubatsira nherera nevarombo?
“I will continuously engage the courts of law to force him to learn about responsibility, kwete kungobereka vana osiya,” said Janet.
Mutenha refused to entertain H-Metro.
Mutenha tied the knot with his new wife, Vimbai Chigumbu, at Waterpot Gardens in Kadoma, on Saturday.
