Saintfloew’s rehabilitation inspires Mahendere

YESTERYEAR gospel musician, Amos Mahendere, says Saintfloew did the right thing to undergo rehabilitation in his battle against drug and substance abuse.

The chanter is now set to revive his career in good shape with an album launch at Alex Sports Club on Saturday.

“Drug abuse is the new cancer that we should tackle as influencers,” said Father Mahendere.

“As a role model, I have decided to start this initiative at my studio to help young people stay away from drugs.

“I have also set up a safe house where I am helping people to fight drug abuse.”

Mahendere has already identified a producer who is now working full-time at his studio to assist artists.

“I have recruited a producer who used to work with the late Soul Jah Love who understands the new culture in showbiz.

“There is a Mutoriro (crystal meth) project that we are working on to ensure that we intensify the fight.

“Mutoriro is not only destroying young people, but ending great talents.

“There are some people who are failing to recover after getting addicted to mutoriro,” he said.

He urged the police and other law enforcement agents to step up operations and plug routes that bring drugs to Zimbabwe.

“It’s quite complex and unfortunate that some of the people who are selling these drugs are well known in ghettos yet they are not arrested.

“The police should help us because we can’t watch people dying from dangerous drugs when they can easily get protection from the police.”

Videos of Dobba Don taking drugs have been circulating on social media.

Another chanter, Blot, was in prison over drugs, although the case was dismissed at the Mbare Magistrates Court.
