AFRICA Drone Kings has officially launched its Zimbabwe operations, bringing drone technology closer to farmers and businesses in a move expected to boost precision agriculture, create skilled jobs and accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence-driven solutions.

The launch attracted stakeholders from the agriculture, insurance, technology and business sectors, who described the investment as an important step towards advancing Zimbabwe’s digital transformation.

Speaking at the launch, Africa Drone Kings Group founder and chief executive Mr Vice Phiri said the establishment of the Zimbabwe branch reflected growing confidence among Zimbabweans in the diaspora who were investing back home.

“We are launching Africa Drone Kings Zimbabwe. This is a step in the right direction because it shows investor confidence,” he said.

Mr Phiri said the company would use drone technology to help farmers reduce production costs, improve yields and strengthen food security through precision agriculture.

He said Africa Drone Kings would also establish a drone training school and had introduced Crop Pilot, a digital platform that enables farmers to access drone spraying services through a mobile application or SMS.

CP Chemicals chief agronomist Mr Martin Chamunorwa said drone technology was becoming an essential tool for modern agriculture, particularly in crop protection and farm monitoring.

“We want this technology to be adopted by all our farmers because there are many benefits they can draw from Africa Drone Kings,” he said.

Representatives from Old Mutual Zimbabwe encouraged drone operators to insure their equipment, saying specialised products were available to cover drones, payloads, spare parts and public liability risks.

“We know drones are expensive, and it would not be prudent to operate them without insurance cover,” the representative said.

In her closing remarks, Africa Drone Kings Group chief operating officer Mrs Nolutando Zitha described the launch as the beginning of a new chapter for both the company and Zimbabwe’s drone industry.

“This launch is not a destination; it is a starting point. We are excited to build this journey through innovation, partnership and a shared belief that Africa Drone Kings has a real role to play in Zimbabwe’s future,” she said.

The event also featured exhibitions and live demonstrations showcasing the growing role of drone technology in agriculture and other sectors of the economy.
