democracy as perceived and preached by the same people who once enslaved Africans.
The devils are preaching sanctity.
Africa would be equally silly to ignore the possibility of being re-colonised, albeit in a subtle manner, by the same former colonisers, who have regenerated themselves and are coming as saints, who preach democracy good governance and accountability.
For example, in Zimbabwe what business does the Movement for Democratic Change have, except reversing the gains of that country’s independence and black empowerment projects?
While Africa celebrated its independence after the wind of change era, the former coloniser sat down and strategised on how to plunder Africa’s remaining resources while keeping “black” governments in power.
Some of us still remember the Berlin conference of 1884 but I am sure this time around they will not gather because technology has it that they can simply talk over the phone and come up with more “clever” ways of abusing African. Black in that all governments seen as an impediment to the plunder must go and leave room for “democratic forces” in the form on emerging Eurocentric opposition political parties.
Usaid, Oxfam, Ford Foundation, Development Aid for International, Canadian International Development Aid and Swedish International development aid were all propped up to maintain vigilance on behalf of the former colonial master and have since been instrumental to suffocating revolutionary Governments in Africa.
Every African leader, who articulates and represents real African liberation and emancipation ethos, therefore, becomes an enemy of the US and its allies and is suddenly called names all the way out of office.
The US and its allies quickly form a formidable opposition parties and if the opposition fails to sound much of a formidable force against the opponent, who is normally a former liberation movement, they try to build or panel beat it to match the job. At the same time weighing down the incumbent, by suffocating his Government and hence the country’s economy.
That strategy was used on Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe and his Government, whose influence in the political dynamics of Africa they don’t doubt. When President Mugabe speaks, he speaks for Africa and for what the continent, would have stood for had it not been infiltrated by Europe and America through hordes of NGOs who come dandling the carrot of aid. The point is that the new political parties formed by Europe and America, are actually slaves of those countries’ foreign policy, who should topple their own brothers and work for their masters.
The leaders of those parties, whose names have a catchword “democracy” are good Africans in the yes of America and Europe, while those who stand for what is truly African, like Robert Mugabe are portrayed as evil, uncouth, dictatorial and inhuman.
The truth is that those in the mould of Mugabe are stumbling block when it comes to the siphoning and milking of African resources by America and its allies. It is out of this realisation that the United States of America, claims that, Africom is an innocent but superior military outfit that should be stationed in Africa to overseer the continent’s development.
Where on earth does a military outfit develop a country? If the military can develop the country why not sponsor Africa to have its own military unit to develop the continent? The duty of the army is to defend its country and what does America want to defend in Africa through Africom? It is clear that they want to defend their hegemony on Africa’s resources. When other countries like Russia and China want to strike deals with Africa, the US behaves like a hyena defending a carcass on the predatory hour.
African leaders should not forget that the development meant by America to be the focus of Africom is allowing America to mine diamonds, gold, uranium, oil and platinum, among others.
Africa must emphatically say no to the occupation and militarisation of its continent by the US. In this case the US becomes a wolf in sheep’s skin and allowing it to occupy any part of Africa is tantamount to allowing re-colonisation, for, who will be able to eventually chase away the American army from Africa? At this point, it becomes critical for Africa to realise that it can use the same natural resources to develop its own military outfit and defend itself. There are other all-weather friends in Asia and middle east who are anti-American and could assist Africa, directly or indirectly come up with its own military unit.
The idea is for Africa to first, be able to deal with its own trouble spots, so that it avoids using military units from Nato or any other foreign countries for conflict management.
An Africa without a military outfit is not worth talking about in terms of the world geopolitics, because it remains prey to other predatory continents. Military infiltration and penetration comes with the reliance on foreign military units, when defending one’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Africa must rise to the occasion and start working seriously on its capacity to self-defend its vast natural resources, its independence and its politics.
