FOLLOWING a tumultuous start to the week in which their boat was rocked by administrative haggling, Premiership giants Dynamos had a ray of sunshine filtering through their camp yesterday with new corporate partners AfricaBet revealing their commitment to helping the glamour to return to the former champions.
Dynamos began the week with a crisis that saw four members leave the club’s executive.
Club vice-chairman Spencer Chihota, treasurer Justice Mubayi and committee members David Chikomo and Batson Nkoma left the club on a dramatic Tuesday at Dynamos.
Mubayi and Chokomo, who had served in the previous Dynamos executive, were the first to step down.
That was before the duo of Nkoma and Chihota followed suit just as the Dynamos board, through correspondence from chairman Bernard Marriot Lusengo, had also shown them the exit door.
The administrative challenges threatened to take the gloss away from Dynamos’ potentially exciting Premiership assignment against last year’s runners-up MWOS at Rufaro this afternoon.
But top betting company AfricaBet, whose package reported to be US$1.5 million annually, for the next four years, will also oil the Glamour Boys operations and will include acquisition of a new team bus among others, helped bring calm when they revealed via a statement their commitment to the partnership with Dynamos.
“On behalf AfricaBet and ContiPay, we proudly greet the Dynamos family and the nation at large following the announcement of our partnership with this great, historic cub.
“Dynamos is not just a football team. It is a national institution, born from the communities of Zimbabwe and carried forward by the unmatched passion of its supporters. From township grounds to packed stadiums, Dynamos represents unity, resilience, and belief — values that define us as Zimbabweans.
“As homegrown businesses, AfricaBet and ContiPay are driven by a shared vision: to build solutions that serve our people, strengthen our communities and contribute to national development,’’ read part of the statement.
“This partnership reflects our belief that sport and business must work hand in hand to uplift communities, create opportunity and inspire the next generation.
“Through this partnership, we aim to support fan engagement, enhance the team’s competitiveness, promote digital inclusion, and create economic opportunities linked to the football ecosystem.
“Thus, this collaboration is more than just sponsorship. It is about investing in local talent, helping build a base for strong national teams, supporting community development, and ensuring that football continues to be a vehicle for hope, opportunity and national pride’’.
AfricaBet also assured DeMbare of their support in the Harare giants’ quest to mount a strong challenge for the Premiership title.
Dynamos will also bounce back to the CAF Confederation Cup competition this year.
“To the Dynamos supporters, you are the 12th man. Your loyalty through triumph and challenges inspires us.
“We stand with you, with the club and with Zimbabwe as we work together to strengthen the game and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future, bringing the glamour back. Together we can make Dynamos the force that it is in African football and the giant that it is at home.”
