African player dies on pitch in Spain

A young African footballer has been confirmed dead after he tragically collapsed during a match in Spain.

20-year-old player Ado Bala Hadi has sadly lost his life under baffling circumstances, as he suddenly slumped to the ground in the 39th minute during his side CD Madridejos’ match against Sporting Cabanillas in the Spanish fourth tier.

According to a statement on Madridejos’ official website, emergency services confirmed that the incident took place at 5:13 pm on Sunday when the player began to suffer seizures before medical personnel were immediately alerted.

A doctor and an ambulance rushed onto the pitch and tried to revive the Hadi using the defibrillator, however, the Nigerian youngster eventually passed away on the scene despite doctors trying to save him for half an hour.

The match was suspended, and the Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation, the organisation responsible for overseeing lower tier football in Spain, said they were totally dismayed by the incident and that they remain at CD Madridejos’ disposal should they need more support during this unforeseen situation.

Spain’s main football governing body, Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol (RFEF), also extended their heartfelt condolences to the player’s loved ones.

Hadi is said to have previously represented Nigerian second division outfit  Jigawa Golden Stars before heading to Spain. – KickOff
