African roots inspire Chinhoyi crooner

RISING Afro fusion singer, Tanaka “Suede Official” Muteka, says his connection to African cultural roots inspires his music.

The Chinhoyi singer, who started his career at a tender age, said:

“My chosen sound is a fusion of the past and current beats.

“This has made me distinct because I have created my own brand of music.

“Besides being a singer and songwriter, I am also good as a backing vocalist, which has made my profile a bit unique,” said Muteka.

Like any other artist, plying his trade in the small town of Chinhoyi, Muteka feels the lack of sponsorship is hampering his career.

“We need exposure and support for us to go places,” he said.

“Our future as the leaders of tomorrow is very bleak because of the drug scourge.

“I am happy that the Government has put some mechanism in place to tame this cancer,” said Muteka.

Muteka has been recording a series of singles.

Some of the singles he released include Munamato, Madhedhula, Zvinowanikwa Mukuwanana, Mukana, Shot Reipapo, Wakaroorwa, Bhebhi Uriko and Wakanaka.

He was inspired by Quonfuzed and Seh Calaz.

Internationally, he draws inspiration from Nigerian superstar Davido and Tanzanian Rayvanny.

He showered praise on Soundlab Entertainment producer, Cashflow, for his selfless dedication to the growth and development of music in the town.

Currently, he is working with Chillspot Records.
