In its summons filed at the High Court, Velvetter Tissues claims that out of the consignment of tissues supplied by Velvetter over the period, African Sun managed to pay only US$24 365. It says the hospitality concern has allegedly failed, refused or neglected to pay the balance of US$38 573. According to Velvetter Tissues’ lawyers, Hussein, Ranchhod and Company, African Sun is also supposed to pay interest thereon calculated at the rate of five percent per annum. This is from August 19, 2011 to the date of payment. African Sun has since given notice to defend the claim saying the tissues were sent to different hotels and invoices passed through different hands. African Sun Limited also owns Holiday Inn hotels in Harare, Bulawayo and Mutare. The Beitbridge Express Hotel also falls under the group. The giant Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls is one of African Sun’s flagships.
