Qaya Musik lovers had real treat over the weekend when award winning group Afrika Revenge performed for the first time after their reunion. Willis Watafi and Mehluli “Taz” Moyo who split seven years ago announced their return with the launch of two sings “Amehloake” and “Chipikiri” at the Book Cafe at the weekend. The single are off their upcoming album “Nothing’s in Vain” which is set for release early next year.
The duo gave a sterling performance taking people down the memory lane as they performed some of their hits which brought them to stardom such as “Wanga”, “Hello” and ‘’Buwe Buwe’’ among others.
It was also an emotional moment when the duo honoured Book Cafe’s founder Paul Rogers Brickhill who passed away last week when they performed “Anochengeta” which they directly dedicated to him.
“Today its a special day to us, we are relaunching Afrika Revenge at a special place, a place where we were founded way back in 2003 by a great man Paul Rogers Brickhill,
“Instead of crying we are celebrating his life, “ said Wattafi before asking revellers for a minute of silence.
Revellers could not help but sing along. The new singles were well received by the fans. In an interview backstage, Willis promised a lot of fireworks for their fans before the end of year.
“We have played some songs from Afrika Revenge and we also played songs from my album ‘Catalogue’. We are fully booked from now up to December and our next show will be at Mystis this Friday,” he said.
Afrika Revenge stormed the music scene with their chart topping debut album titled “Afrika Revenge Presents Qaya Music”.
