AFRO-FUSION crooner, Sebastian “Sobs” Mubururi, says he has been fortunate enough to receive airplay for his latest song.
Titled ‘Paanofamba,’ the song has received airplay from various radio stations. In an interview with H-Metro, Sobs said since a few local artists are enjoying YouTube royalties, his focus for now is on local airplay.
“My new single is doing well on radio stations. The airplay is just good. I have learnt that as musicians, our job is to create good music.
“The money will come, my message out there is that work on being a great musician and writing great songs, and don’t panic if you don’t get big, because right now big isn’t as big as it used to be.
“Spotify and YouTube have somewhere beyond 2,500 genre designations. That’s how much is out there. That’s what we as artists are fighting against.”
He added:
“So, what you need to be able to do is find your spot in the music industry and maximise your opportunities within your spot.
“For now, I am doing live shows and making sure that my music is on the radio. If it grows above and beyond that, fantastic.
“If it doesn’t, well, at least I will know that I left the world with some good music.”
