THE domestic Premiership has lost a significant chunk of its fan base but those who have stayed behind remain VERY LOYAL to the brand.
Gone are the days when matches involving Dynamos at Rufaro would be guaranteed, at least, 20 000 fans.
The Harare Derby, at Rufaro, would always draw a capacity crowd.
The case has not been helped by the lack of success, in terms of the league championship, when it comes to Dynamos and CAPS United.
The Glamour Boys have not won the league in a decade while CAPS United, who won the championship in 2016, are having a poor season.
Today, the big numbers, in terms of fans, are being seen at Barbourfields on the occasions that Bosso are playing well.
However, there is a loyal group of fans which has stuck with the PSL and this is a colourful lot.
Chegutu Pirates fans, in particular, are very loud and very colourful.
Simba Bhora fans are also very colourful.
“That’s the advantage of being community clubs, it connects the clubs to their fans and this is not about winning or losing, it’s about ownership.
“The fans believe they are part of the club and they tie themselves to the club,” said a Pirates official.
