Barely a week after he walked on the red carpet shirtless, controversial rising Afro-pop artiste Mussa Effect (real name Calvin Musandu) will tomorrow celebrate his 23rd birthday at Inakis Braai Lounge in Hellensville. Dubbed the Gemni Affair, the celebrations will be graced with performances by artistes who also celebrate their birthday in June including John Cole, Sacha, Hubby Blacks, Coco Master, Marcus Mafia, Kiky Badass and Fucci.
Mussa Effect said he is happy to celebrate with fellow artists and fans.
“I’m excited to be turning 23. I feel it’s very important year in my life as I’m taking my career to the next level and also maturing as an individual,” he said.
“As young as I am, I’m excited about my future and the awesome artists I’m celebrating this day with.
The people around you play an active role in moulding your future.”
Mussa Effect is a rising artiste who launched his career in 2016 with hit single Silent Night which landed on charts like Africa Hot 30 on Trace Africa amongst other international TV Stations.
The single’s success led him to performance opportunities staging Toni Braxton and Babyface’s welcome party. He also had the privilege to perform and host the Toya Delazy Rock the City concert.
Last year Mussa Effect released a chart topper single titled “Turn Me Up” featuring the multi-winning rapper Calvin. Its success earned him a nomination for a contract with Sony Music Middle Eastern.
He was the only African artiste competing with global musicians. Unfortunately he ended up on sixth position, only two places from the four that were signed.
This year Mussa Effect is working on releasing his debut album titled “Effected: Humba Makombe” as well as a documentary based on the production of the project.
