THE Air Force of Zimbabwe’s Wings of Empowerment Women’s Association has donated goods worth thousands of United States dollars to the Queen of Peace Rehabilitation and Crisis Centre in Gweru.
The donation, which included soap, sugar, and blankets, was handed over during a ceremony held at the centre last Friday.
The association’s Vice-Chairperson, Mrs Sibongile Masera, said the gesture extended beyond material support, as it fostered hope and dignity among the centre’s residents.
“These items are symbols of hope. They serve as reminders to the residents that they are not alone — that they are seen, valued, and supported,” she said.
Mrs Masera underscored the importance of compassion and community upliftment, particularly among women.
“As women, we understand the strength that comes from lifting one another up. When one of us rises, we all rise. We hope these donations will not only meet practical needs but also inspire belief in brighter days ahead,” she said.
She also paid tribute to the philanthropic efforts of First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, who, through the Angel of Hope Foundation, continues to champion the welfare of the vulnerable and marginalised.
Receiving the donation, Queen of Peace Director Mrs Stella Khumalo expressed heartfelt gratitude. She said the contribution would significantly ease the centre’s burden as it supports 49 rehabilitants.
She also appealed to more individuals and organisations to come forward with support.
