Agritex supervisor up for criminal abuse of duty

Crime Reporter

The Zinbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested Gerald Tuhwe, an Agritex supervisor for Mazowe District, on criminal

abuse of duty charges.

Tuhwe allegedly misrepresented facts to the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (ARDA), that Kenro

Marangwanda had a thriving maize crop on 65 hectares of land, yet he had only planted 30 hectares.

Acting on the misrepresentation, ARDA issued fertiliser for 65 hectares to Marangwanda. As an Agritex Supervisor, Tuhwe was

responsible for farmer verification and recommendation upon verification of land access, hectarage, and status of the irrigation

scheme.

The accused appeared at Concession Magistrate court and was remanded out of custody to October 22, 2024, on US$200 bail.
