VICE President Kembo Mohadi has touched down at Felipe Ángeles International Airport in Mexico for the inauguration of
Mexican President elect Claudia Sheinbaum on Tuesday.
He was received by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA, Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico
Tadeous Chifamba and Mexican Foreign Affairs Ministry Director-General of the Department for Africa, Central Asia and the
Middle East Ambassador Octavio Tripp Villanoba.
The visit signals a new trajectory for both nations being the first of its kind high-level interaction between Zimbabwe and the
Northern American country.
Mexicans voted last June electing their first female President of the incumbent ruling party, Morena who will serve a six-year
term that will conclude in 2030.
The 62-year-old former Mexico City mayor Sheinbaum will succeed Andres Manuel López Obrador.
Her swearing in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Legislative Palace of San Lázaro in Mexico City.
The Mexican President-elect was also previously the first woman to be mayor of Mexico City.
