ONE of South Africa’s longest standing hip-hop rivalry between awarding winning artistes Casper Nyovest and AKA, which has seen both musicians composing tracks “dissing” each other will finally be solved when the two clash for the first time on the same stage in Bulawayo.
The two will cap, what has probably been an eventful year in the entertainment industry in the country, which has seen world class musicians performing in various venues around the country, inclusive of Busy Signal, Mariah Carey and many others who headlined this year.
Probably the biggest hip-hop acts in the South African showbiz industry, AKA and Casper Nyovest are said to be headlining the Kalawa Homecoming Festival that is usually billed for the 27th of December every year.
Interestingly, the two have in the past had “beef” over who is better than the other in the South African hip-hop game, and fans have always anticipated that when the two rappers perform on stage, they will probably draw a huge crowd.
Sources privy to the development confirmed that indeed the two were heading to Zimbabwe at the Kalawa Homecoming festival, although they were still finalising the deal.
“Yes, we are expecting that they come and perform at the Kalawa Homecoming Festival this year, although we are still finalising the whole thing. These two acts have always had beef and they have different fans altogether and it should draw a bumper crowd when they come to Zimbabwe and perform,” said the source.
Recently, rapper, Cassper Nyovest signed a lucrative deal with MTN in the presence of Kalawa Jazmee boss, Oscar Mdlongwa.
So far, 2015 has been a great year for the Casper Nyovest as he filled up the Dome in South Africa, and at least 20 000 fans have bought the tickets for the event, something that has never been done by any rap artiste in South Africa and the world over.
Their beef, that will be looked forward to on stage by their Zimbabwean fans and has been further exacerbated by the fact that, AKA’s ex, Casper Nyovest tweeted that she was going to buy her ticket to Casper’s Fill up the Dome concert, and this time it will be a Zimbabwean affair.
“Am sure this time we are expecting a lot of people at the festival and the beef will be more of a Zimbabwean affair. The beef will surely generate a lot of interest for their fans and, this will surely be the first time we have a show of this kind in Zimbabwe,” he said.
With Casper playing the humble one all the time in beef and being the new kid on the block who believes the industry favors AKA, Casper has proved to be more mettle in the industry in the industry and has also been a favourite for many Zimbabweans.
The Kalawa Homecoming Festival has always been a must go for most Bulawayo revellers and has been termed the biggest show on the entertainment calendar as most Kalawa acts from the stable come down and perform.
