Prince of South African rap AKA, real name Kiernan Jordan Forbes, is set to share the stage with local hip-hop artistes Schingy of “Team Bhoo” fame, Jnr Brown, Marcus and DJ Rags tomorrow at the Andy Miller Hall, in Harare. The “Jealous” hitmaker is expected to jet in tomorrow morning. The show is being hosted by Magma Beverages.

In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, one of the organisers, Allan Doma said they were happy to host AKA and said he is coming but there is only a change on his time of arrival.

“Everything is going according to plan. We are glad to announce to all hip-hop lovers that your favourite artiste is on his way to Zimbabwe and has rescheduled his arrival to Saturday morning because of other commitments in SA”, he said.

Doma said they have partnered with Star FM who are covering his live interviews.

“I can confirm that we are going to have Star FM cover a live interview with AKA as soon as he touches down at the airport, we are going to create the biggest ever hype for his entrance into the country.

“After his arrival we are going to hosts him and let him meet up with our local hip hop artiste that will share the stage with him later in the night”, he said.

He said it was their first time as an organisation to host such an event yet alone work with top brand musicians.

“As Magma Beverages we are proud to be associated with musicians of this magnitude who have made names internationally. We have chosen hip-hop just to have a different style from the Zimdancehall movement,” he said.

The organisers said the show will kick off with a red carpet and a photo session.

“It has become a thing of the moment that whenever a big show is happening there is a red carpet event,” he said.

Schingy, whose real name is Shingirayi Maungainidze, said he was ready to show AKA what Zimbabwe is made of.

“Zimbabwe is talented and we want to prove to Africa that we are ready to conquer the world. We have dancers that will showcase their moves. Three weeks ago we performed alongside Cassper Nyovest and I am happy with the overwhelming response from the crowd. I urge corporate world to have us at heart first when organising shows as we also have a lot to offer,” he said.

Schingy is expected to perform at his maiden tour in Dubai alongside regional hip-hop artistes.

Schingy won a Zim Hip-hop award last year and caused a stir with his stage performance dubbed, “Schingilluminati”, when he came out of a casket during the award ceremony.

He denied rumours that he was of the Illuminati stable but was just creative.

“We only want to embrace the creativity of other artistes that are not from Zimbabwe.

“If our own do such a thing that is when they get to be labelled witches, prostitutes or rebels,” he said.
