The duo staged a sensational gig dubbed “Maya Yarira” — the talking drum, at a show that left the audience asking for more.
It took a while for the crowd to accept that the hour-long gig had finally come to an end.
It was only when the stage’s curtain came down that people began to exit the building.
The jazz artistes gave the finest accounts of themselves as they took turns to dish out their hits.
Alexio was the first to emerge on the stage, setting the mood with his hit “Save” from his latest album “Tose”.
The sound system was superb and the audience was treated to a grand performance from the band that surprisingly had two drum sets.
Prudence, on the other hand, put her best foot forward, while gliding gracefully in designer clothes and heels. Not even her pregnancy could slow her down during her elegant act.
The duo was indeed a match made in heaven and the icing on the cake was the duet they performed of the song they said was written by their “dear friend” Mono Mukundu.
From then on they made appearances on each other’s songs and one could be forgiven to think they were musical partners.
As if their brilliant backing vocals were not enough, the audience joined in and sang along to all the songs.
The excitement was high among the audience and the artistes’ performance was world class because they not only sang but exhibited their dancing prowess.
In appreciation of the positive energy, Alexio his “mbira” in hand dedicated his song “Chipo Changu”, to God, thanking him for his talents and how it had enabled him to earn a living from it over the years.
Other songs that got people on their feet were “Shaina”, “Chihwande Hwande” from Alexio while Prudence threw in “Handibvumi” and classics “Ruva Rangu”, “Suzan” and best of all “BP”.
