Alexio Kawara, who recently turned 36, has hailed his fans for their unwavering support. The afro-jazz crooner recently celebrated his birthday at Gabby’s Restaurant in Avondale and publicly thanked them.

The “Shaina” classic hitmaker said he was overwhelmed with the way his fans have stood by him throughout his career over the last 15 years.

“I owe everything to my fans, my success in the music industry it’s because of them, even the reason why I am still here as a musician it’s because of them. For this reason I decided to celebrate my 36th birthday and 15 years in the music industry with them.

“My fans are just so special and different, they are always there. They hunt for my shows and always come such that I know almost everyone of them by name and I just feel honoured.

“They have stood by me from the time I was into urban grooves until today when I am focusing more on afro-jazz though I am versatile when it comes to genres,” he said.

He gave a sterling performance taking people down memory lane by belting out some of his yesteryear hit songs. He played “Musikana Akanaka”, which was like a national anthem around 2001-2003, and “Karwiyo Aka”, among others.

The Shades of Black frontman is currently working on his fourth album, “Oyi”, which is set for release early next year.

He has already released one single from the album called “Zvazvinhu”.

Songs from the upcoming album, which features Roki on the song “Chakaipa” and Beitbridge-based LT on “Zvazvinhu”, has been warmly received during live shows. Another song called “Nehana” from the album is also a potential hit.
