adminLONDON. — Arsenal could cash in on Alexis Sanchez this summer if the Chilean forward refuses to commit his future to the Gunners. In fact, Arsene Wenger is facing a major dilemma over whether to cash in on Sanchez this summer.
Juventus have joined Bayern Munich in the hunt for the Arsenal forward, with the Italian giants’ general manager Giuseppe Marotta publicly admitting his admiration of the player.
Gunners boss Wenger is aware Sanchez is frustrated after a disappointing season and, despite lengthy talks about a new £160 000-a-week contract, nothing has been signed.
It all leaves Arsenal keen to know whether Sanchez wants to stay — he gave very positive signs earlier in the season — or go this summer. If it’s the latter, they may be tempted to sell rather than risk him running his contract down.
Bayern have been sniffing around Sanchez and now Marotta has admitted Juve are interested in the Chile international, who joined the North Londoners from Barcelona for £33 million two years ago. Marotta said: “It’s nice to read that so many players would like Juventus. As for Sanchez, he’s definitely a good player.”
Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Juventus striker Alvaro Morata , a top-class forward is Wenger’s No. 1 priority and Marotta has admitted there is a “50 percent chance” the ex-Real Madrid starlet could leave the Turin side this summer.
Sanchez stormed out of the Emirates Stadium after being subbed against Norwich last month — he left even before the players had come back into the dressing room at the end of the game.
The 27-year-old also did not go over to the away fans at the end of Sunday’s draw with Manchester City. It has been a disappointing season for Sanchez after a remarkable first year with Arsenal. That could be blamed on injury and fatigue after he helped his country win last summer’s Copa America and had only a short break before returning to club duty, but there has also been a growing feeling of his ego taking control and of frustration.
Arsenal will be happy to keep Sanchez if he wants to stay and succeed, but they need to know his state of mind before deciding whether it is time to cut their losses. The 27-year-old lit up the Emirates during his first season at the club last season but he’s been well below-par this campaign.
Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for the former Barcelona ace.
Arsenal chiefs met with Sanchez on several occasions earlier this season where the forward intimated that he was more than happy to extend his stay at the club.
However, Sanchez’s mood has soured in the last couple of months and he stormed down the tunnel after being substituted in the Gunners’ win against Norwich City last month . — The Mirror.
