ZIMBABWE Cricket legend Alistair Campbell has described the current Chevrons’ bowling unit, spearheaded by Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava as one of the best the country has ever had.
Muzarabani and Ngarava have been the Chevrons’ frontline bowlers over the past few years and Campbell believes that they are up there with the era of the likes of Heath Streak and Eddo Brandes.
The duo will once again lead the Chevrons attack when they face England in a historic one-off four-day Test match at Trent Bridge next week.
“To be honest on the bowling side, you talk about the golden era, when we talk about Streaky and Brandes but you will see them now, Blessing Muzarabani, he is a real talent and Richard Ngarava. When this side fronts up… I think this is the best bowling side, if you talk about cross-generational, it’s up there. Streak will be the only guy that gets in there,” said Campbell to Sky Sports’ Cricket Podium.
Muzarabani, last month against Bangladesh, became the first Zimbabwean to take six wickets in three consecutive Test matches while also reaching 50 wickets in just 11 Tests, equalling Streak’s national record for the fastest to 50 Test wickets.
The highly anticipated Test match between England and Zimbabwe is penciled in for May 22-25.
