South Africa is no haven for fugitives of justice.
That’s the warning from authorities after Ndodana Tshuma, a British citizen, was arrested in Johannesburg on Friday.
He’s wanted in the UK for the murder of his wife and two daughters.
All eyes will be on the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, as he appears there on Monday.
His arrest in Kensington has set the stage for what is expected to be the start of extradition proceedings.
This Johannesburg suburb has become the focus of an international murder investigation.
His arrest followed an intelligence-led operation involving Interpol, Crime Intelligence and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit.
British authorities wanted Tshuma in connection with the murders of his wife, 42-year-old Nothabo Tshuma, and their daughters, Natalie and Nala, aged 15 and 5.
Their bodies were found at their home near Bedford in England.
Extradition proceedings are anticipated to begin as UK authorities seek his return to stand trial.
Police in South Africa have been applauded for Tshuma’s arrest.
Authorities said the arrest sends a clear message that South Africa will not become a haven for fugitives seeking to evade justice.
