THE 2025 Bulawayo Motoring Club Drag Season came to an end on a high, with focus now shifting to the ever exciting Three-Hour Endurance Race set for December 6.

It is the traditional season-ending event and attracts drivers and motor cyclists from neighbouring countries.
David Mouat, the vice chairman of the Bulawayo Motoring Club, told Zimpapers Sports Hub that the Castro HP Lubes sponsored final drag race of the season had a good attendance.

“We had a final drags race meeting of the year sponsored by Castro HP Lubes. It was an extremely well attended race meeting by the Bulawayo public. We had approximately 3 000 spectators,” said Mouat.

Even the number of entries among the participating drags lovers on the race course was good and provided for a good afternoon’s watch in blistering summer sun.

“Even more amazingly, 51 entries in the cars and bikes series took part,” said Mouat.
Always a magnificent family fun day, the Motoring Club partnered an energy drink company, Wildcat, who brought a mobile stage and a high-powered public address system that added to the day’s vibe.

Mouat was impressed with the proceedings of the day as the programme started on time and stuck to schedule.
Zambians were impressive in the motor bike section.

“Racing started promptly at midday and as expected the ambience was amazing. The Zambian Racing Team 313 that travelled to Bulawayo as expected dominated in the bike class in the 100cc and 750cc categories that they won with the 600cc class won by local champion Matthew Schultz and the 250cc it was yours truly (Mouat) who came third Mike Macher second, and Kevin on a motocross bike came first. It was a hugely fun day,” said Mouat.

The final run-off on the cars’ section had Zimbabwe‘s Aidan White in a Skyline three-litre turbo 4×4 up against Zambian Ikrama Big Bucks from Lusaka in his Mercedes GLS 6.3.

Mouat said it was a tough call and a run-off twice was ordered as there were some technical issues.
Fired up by cheers from the thousands, White was no let down, powering to victory in style.

Bucks, at the end of the event, promised to return for his revenge on the Zimbabweans.
Mouat described drags as a growing phenomenon with numbers growing with each event.

“For those of you that missed, our meetings are growing.”
He said more thrills are expected in the December 6, Three-hour endurance race for cars and one hour for bikes.

The vice-chairman confirmed that there would be participants from both Bulawayo and Harare, apart from the foreign contingent.

Among those expected to set the scene ablaze is Calvin Rademeyer in partnership with Angela Tavares in the sports car category of the three-hour race.

Mouat promised an adrenaline-pumping and exciting December 6 at the Bulawayo Race Course along Victoria Falls Road.

Meanwhile, Bongi Gwatiwa of Enkosi Gardens and Events is in talks with Bulawayo Motoring Club to spice up the event.

He is keen to convince Batswana bikers and campers to invade Bulawayo on December 5.
“I have heard so much about the reputation of the Three Hour Endurance. We would love to be part of and have enthusiasts camping on site for two days and experience a unique feel of the event,” said Gwatiwa.
