All eyes on Vic Falls Marathon

Last year’s winner in the men’s section, Michael Ngaaseke, is expected to return and defend his crown.
A top prize of US$6 000 is up for grabs for the winners in the main race.
The main race, which is open to athletes over 21 years old, will start between the Kingdom and Victoria Falls hotels and then finish in the Victoria Falls Primary School grounds.
Ngaaseke completed the 42km distance in 2 hours 24 hours 31 seconds while Kudakwashe Nduna was second on 2.25.06 hours.
Another Zimbabwean, Chasara Masiya, was third with Oliver Kandiero coming fourth.
Previous winner Nkosiyazi Sibanda, Point Chaza and Kelvin Pangiso are some of the runners expected for the race.
Defending women’s champion Lizzie Chokore is also the pre-event favourite.
The marathon is one of the few routes in Zimbabwe that are certified by the International Association of Athletics Federation.

Add to that game on the race route, and the post-race party on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River?” said promoter John Addison of Wild Frontiers.
Athletes from Botswana, South Africa, United States, Britain and Australia are expected to take part as the event.
It is also a platform for Zimbabwe to market the destination as a prime tourist destination.
