Boost for FC Platinum

ceremony held at their clubhouse.
The Zvishavane platinum miners were beaten to the league championship by goal difference last year, in a rivetting duel with Dynamos, and still hope of making up lost ground in the second half of the season.
“We are very happy about the donation. We will better our performance of last season for the good of our fans and stakeholders,” said club president, Nathan Shoko, in a speech read on his behalf by his deputy, George Mawere.
Cell Insurance general manager, Maxman Mutsaru, said they have been working in partnership with the miners since 2011 and were celebrating their bond with one of the best professional football clubs in Zimbabwe.
“We have heard the club being called Moneybags and we do not want the bag to get finished,” said Mutsau.
“The club has managed to bring (Premiership) action into the marginalised community and we are just giving back as a social responsibility.”
FC Platinum coach, Tendai Chikuni, is positive that his team will deliver when they face high-flying Monoz, who are third in the championship race.
Ironically, Monomotapa’s 2-0 win over FC Platinum at Gwanzura in the first half of the season triggered the technical changes that ushered Chikuni into power, replacing his mentor Rahman Gumbo, who was sacked after that defeat.
“Our loss to Monomotapa happened in the first half of the season and we are now in the second round,” said Chikuni.
“We do not live by history and my guys are focused for the match. Simon (Shoko) Cabby (Kamhapa) and Frank (Mlambo) started light training and I might consider them tomorrow (today) as everyone in the team is fighting for the jersey.”
Biggie Zuze is in charge of Monoz and he will be baking on Russell Madamombe, former Shabanie Mine son Makai “Jecha” Kawashu and dribbling wizard Ronald “Rooney” Chitiyo.
The platinum miners have only lost twice at Mandava to Dynamos and once to Highlanders.
“We have been missing a lot of chances but we have polished our performance and now and we will score goals on Saturday,” said dread-locked forward, Charles Sibanda.
With Benjamin Marere, Ali Sadiki and the hitman Donald Dombo in attack, FC Platinum expect more from their forwards as they have one of, if not the most potent, strikeforce in the Premiership.
