All is set for Zanu-PF conference

THE Zanu-PF fund-raising dinner which was held last week in Harare was a huge success after it raised $2,5 million contrary to media reports that the dinner flopped.
Speaking during a Zanu-PF Umguza District meeting meant to appraise new district members of their role in the party, the party’s National Secretary for Finance, Dr Obert Mpofu, said all is set for the conference as the funds raised at the fund-raising dinner and donations from the private sector have enabled the revolutionary party to pay all service providers. The conference will be held in Victoria Falls from 7 to 13 December.

“Preparations for the conference are going on well but what I can tell you is that during the fund-raising dinner we were expecting to raise $1 million but we raised $2,5 million. We have already paid for everything which is needed for the conference and I am happy to say that we will not experience any problems in this coming conference,” said Dr Mpofu who is also the Macro-Economic Planning and Investment Promotion Minister.

“We received good responses from different stakeholders and the private sector played a big role in supporting us. Private airlines have since reserved seats for foreign delegates and this is the partnership we appreciate.”

Dr Mpofu challenged the newly elected district members to respect the party’s constitution and shun factionalism. He said factionalism has never existed in Umguza and it will never since party members only recognise President Mugabe as the leader of the party. Among those who attended the meeting were the Zanu-PF Matabeleland provincial chairperson Cde Richard Moyo, Central Committee member Cde Sikhanyisiwe Mpofu and provincial members.
