ALL roads lead to Madlambudzi in Bulilima District, Plumtree where 10 teams will battle it out for R35 000 on New Year’s Day in an annual tournament sponsored by a local family with interests in the retail business.

The K and Sons Soccer Tournament, which is in its sixth year, will see 10 teams, from Madlambuzi and surrounding rural areas clash in the annual tourney.

“Local rural teams have been playing in qualifiers for the last couple of weekends and final 10 will play here at Madlambuzi Shopping Centre on New Year’s Day for a prize money of R35 000.

“The tournament is sponsored by our family which owns a number of shops here in Madlambuzi and it’s our small way of giving back to the community that has supported us over the years,” said tournament organiser Hillary Moyo.

Individual accolades for the best goalkeeper, best defender and top goal scorer have been secured.

With the festive season now in high gear, a number of football tournaments are being played around Bulawayo and in Matabeleland North and South Provinces, sponsored mostly by Zimbabweans in the Diaspora.
