ALL is set for the Harare edition of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance provincial showcase tomorrow at Gungwa Bar, Chikwanha, Chitungwiza.
Ten groups will be competing to book a spot to represent the capital at the national finals set for July 29 at Harare Gardens.
Event organisers, Delta Beverages, and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association say they have been satisfied with the level of competition so far.
“It has been really an exciting journey to the finals and we are looking forward to the Harare provincial finals this weekend in Chitungwiza
“The level of competition has increased and that shows that our people appreciate our efforts to promote and preserve our cultures and traditions.
“For those in Chitungwiza, let’s come in our numbers and celebrate Bira Remadhanzi,” said ZNTDA president Kennedy Kachuruka.
Kachuruka said they were geared up for the national finals after coming up with nine other contestants from across the country.
The Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance showcase has grown to be a platform for showcasing rich cultural heritage from across the ethnic divide. An array of performers, including popular dances Muchongoyo, Mbakumba, Jerusarema, Chihodha, Gule/Nyau and Amahiza dances, among others, will be showcased.
The dance showcase is this year also celebrating 60 years of its existence.
