THE National Aids Council (NAC) has partnered with Population Solutions for Health, Diagnostic Laboratory Suppliers, and Qiagen, to offer free cervical cancer screening in Zimbabwe from today up to Sunday at Chapman Golf Club.
Cervical cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in Zimbabwe. Self-testing kits are also available to make the process easier and less intimidating for women who are hesitant to get screened.
The organisations have urged women to take advantage of the opportunity and spread the message to their friends, family and neighbours.
“We are offering free cervical cancer screening using the WHO-recommended DNA-based test, care HPV.
“This test is the gold standard for cervical cancer screening. Screening, it will start at 8am to 4pm.
“We understand that some women may be shy or scared to get screened, that’s why we are offering self-sampling kits. You can collect the sample yourself in your own private space,” the organisation said in a statement.
The organisation said the process was painless and very easy.
“If you test positive, we will work with our partners, Population Solutions of Health Zimbabwe (PSH), to provide you with free treatment and counselling,” they said.
“We believe that every woman deserves to be screened for cervical cancer. Please tell your friends, family, and neighbours about this opportunity and save lives. It’s all free.”
