All set for Da Big Launch concert

The hip hop extravaganza will be bringing together the five winners of the da-grapevine.com’s hip hop chart show, while also giving female hip hop artistes more prominence as the organizsers felt that there was a need to balance both female and male presence on the local hip hop scene. Featured artistes include Kid Eggo, MAC, Sean D, all female dance crew H-3, female rappers, DrasTiQ, Tshisagirl, Mitchell better known as Hotness.

In an interview, organiser of the show, Naboth Rimayi, better known as Naboth Rizzla said the concert would give them a chance to bring the year to an end with performances from the winners of the popular grapevine chart.

“This show will allow us to bring the year to a spectacular end as it will give us a chance to honour the winners of the grapevine chart which has been running for the past year. It will be about bringing the winners together and celebrating what has been a good year for hip hop. The only winner of our chart who will not be taking part is Tammy Jubbs who unfortunately is tied down with work commitments,” he said.

Rizzla said there would be an increase in female artistes for this concert as they felt that  the local hip hop scene  lacked female presence. He said he hoped the performance and success of the invited female artistes would spur on others to come out and also expose their talents.

“The local hip hop scene is unfortunately lacking in female performers and through this concert we hope to rectify that. The lack of females in the hip hop scene is not due to a lack of talent but the fact that those interested do not have a lot of artistes to look up to like men do,” he said.

Rizzla said that all featured artistes would get a chance to launch their projects during the show as organisers did not have the financial muscle to push their projects individually.

The cover charge for the show is $3.
