She was crowned at the Environmental Management Agency Miss Earth Competitions held on Friday at Gwanda District Club.
Tlou takes over the crown from Nokuthula Nyoni also of Esigodini Agricultural College.
The vivacious Tlou beat 10 other models in terms of appearance and knowledge of environmental issues. She walked away with $70 prize money in addition to other prizes.
Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Polytechnic student Sandile Mageza was crowned the first princess, while the second princess was Botemba Nyoni also from Esigodini.
The first and second princesses also walked away with $50 and $40 prize money respectively.
The winners of the competitions are expected to spread the gospel of preserving the environment to the youth and ensure that they reached out to all sectors of the community.
The contestants were quizzed to test their knowledge of environmental issues.
The Miss Earth contestants were drawn from Esigodini Agricultural College and JMN Polytechnic.
The concept behind the competition is to encourage the institutions to actively participate in environmental management activities within and around their institutions.
EMA also donated books to the libraries of the two colleges.
