ALL is set for the third edition of the Great Limpopo Cultural Fair (GLCF) in Chiredzi.
Organised by Gaza Trust in conjunction with Chiredzi Rural District Council, the four-day fair meant to showcase different cultures, brings together traditional Shangani and Xitshonga groups from Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa, the three countries that share the Limpopo River.
The fair which begins today, will feature music, dance and poetry.
Gaza Trust co-ordinator Hebert Pikela said various activities had been lined up for the event including a business symposium where cultural projects will be exhibited.
“We’ve repackaged the GLCF and it now encompasses unique programmes meant to change the lives of people from the three participating countries,” said Pikela.
Some visitors from South Africa arrived on Tuesday and the rest were expected in the country yesterday.
“The cultural business network forum will see a number of papers being presented by esteemed academics and other personalities,” said Pikela.
Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry as well as Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture officials are expected to grace the four-day event. Representatives from Chiredzi District Council, South Africa’s Vambe District Rural Council and local authorities from Mozambique will also attend.
Last year the fair saw delegates touring Gonarezhou National Park. They also witnessed circumcision graduation ceremonies of the Xitshonga people in Chief Tshovani area in Chiredzi.
