PLUMTREE High School will this Saturday host the Matabeleland South Schools Athletics Series, with young athletes from across the province expected to converge for a day of competition and talent identification.
The athletics meet will run under the theme “Unleashing Potential, Inspiring Excellence and Uniting Matabeleland South,” as organisers seek to use sport as a platform to promote unity and nurture emerging talent.
A wide range of track and field events have been lined up for the competition, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 1 500m and 3 000m races.
Relay enthusiasts will also have a chance to shine in the 4x400m relay and mixed relay events, while field athletes are set to compete in long jump and shot put.
Organisers believe the event will provide an important opportunity for young athletes to showcase their abilities while gaining valuable competitive experience.
Participation fees have been set at US$1 for individual events and US$3 for relay teams.
The event is expected to attract schools from across Matabeleland South, with excitement already building ahead of Saturday’s competitions in Plumtree.
