All set for Platinum FM launch in Chinhoyi

Tomorrow Saturday morning is going to be a historical day in the lives of the Chinhoyi community , when a new provincial radio station, Platinum FM will be officially launched.
Station Manager , Davies Mugadza, told H-Metro, that all has been set for the official launch .
Mugadza said the guest of honour the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa.
“We are all set for the Platinum FM launch tomorrow in Chinhoyi.
“We would be also having special dignitaries, such as the minister of Provincial Affairs, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, permanent secretary, Paul Mangwana , deputy minister Kindness Paradza, as well as provincial permanent secretary, Jaji,” said Mugadza.
He added.
“We are also expecting Chief Zvimba, Makonde and the business community,”
Mugadza said the programme will start off at 9am with a procession and a road show that would take it through the major suburbs of Chinhoyi.
” Our group chairman, Mr Tommy Sithole, CEO Pikirayi Deketeke will grace the launch,” he said.
Mugadza said the official launch is an important ceremony as it is historic.
” Its for the first time Chinhoyi has a radio station.  The radio station is also dedicated for Mashonaland West Province,” said Mugadza.
He said a lot of people have been asking why the radio station was named Platinum FM .
He said the province is endowed with a lot of tourism historical sites.
” If you look at the name itself Platinum, its very broad. We are privileged to have the largest man-made lake in the world.
” We also have Darwendale dam and they contribute to tourism. So, the best hospitality that you get is Platinum hospitality,” he said.
Mugadza said in the province it is where tobacco is grown.
” So a best farmer is a platinum farmer. Those who excel in arts get a platinum award. If you look at the platinum deposits, we have Ngezi , Great Dyke and other mineral deposits in the province,” he said.
Mugadza said its a radio station that also wants to give platinum service.
“Platinum FM munzva yahwe. Ndiyo inobayabaya, using the Kore-Kore terminology,” said Mugadza.
He said some business corporates were going to be part and parcel of the historical moment.
” The radio station is quite significant for this region because its a radio station for Mash West,” he said.
Mugadza added ” We are currently covering Kariba on 94:5 FM, Karoi 103:4 FM and our new frequency in Chinhoyi is 103.:2FM,”
He said the radio station has been well received and appreciated by the local community.
“When we went on air before the official launch, people actually enjoyed listening to local places being mentioned on air.
“We are quite happy in the town and we cover up to Mapinga, Banket, Doma, Mhangura and as far as Norton, Murombedzi, Kutama and Lions Den , just to mention but a few,”
