These bogus schemes are, in certain instances, started by pastors or prophets in the name of “seeding” for better blessed returns.
So tempting are the schemes that church members are pressured to part with lots of their hard-earned money.
Old and new converts have not been spared from this “satanic” practice.
It’s sad when both old and new comers end up losing money to these schemes of shame.
The media has been warning congregants against rogue pastors, but these greedy church leaders somehow manage to convince even the doubters with their forked tongues almost on a daily basis.
For how long will congregants continue to cry foul after losing their savings and earnings to these conmen masquerading as Men of God?
Is there enough awareness against this evil practice by these false criminal pastors hiding behind the pulpit and bible verses?
And who is to blame for this practice which has left congregants counting their losses?
Congregants must now take the initiative and educate each other about the realities of life.
Being a church member doesn’t mean one must shut their eyes and mind to the realities of life.
Some people have crept in unnoticed and taken up leadership positions in the church for their own self-gratification, and nothing to do with the gospel whatsoever.
Once pastors deviate from the gospel of Jesus Christ and ventures into the gospel of prosperity, congregants need to be wary and remind them to stick to their so-called calling.
There are professionals that deal with investments and should a pastor want to pursue that career, they should resign instead of using the power of their influence to fleece congregants seeking rest for their weary souls.
Some of the congregants have been stripped of their dignity after losing their savings by investing in pastors’ schemes.
Past Friday, we published a story about a Seventh-day Adventist Church pastor from Kadoma who lured congregants to invest in a scheme promising rapid and huge returns.
Congregants invested more than US$40 000 and the pastor reportedly fled to South Africa in May last year under the pretext of seeking specialist medical attention.
A year down the line, the pastor’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Such cases have been more rampant in Pentecostal churches, but it seems people never learn.
It is high time congregants stop putting their trust in pastors and prophets.
They should instead trust God and God alone.
