All set for Zim industries indaba

MORE than 100 delegates are expected to attend the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI) annual congress which opens in Mutare tomorrow.The congress runs under the theme “taking Zimbabwe Industry to the next level”.

CZI chief executive Clifford Sileya said all was set for the indaba.

“We are expecting about 100 to 150 delegates to attend the congress. So far we are still registering delegates,” he said.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Mike Bimha is expected to officially open the congress.

Sileya said there would be international and local speakers at the congress.

“We have Patrick Meyepa from Mauritius, Professor Erik Reinert from Norway, Engineer Munesushe Munodawafa, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Joyce Mbudzi and Engineer Francis Masawi,” he said.

Sileya said this was the first time CZI was holding a congress under the Zim-Asset thrust.

“We hope to achieve an economic turnaround with special regards to our industries. We also anticipate coming up with productive solutions on the revival of our economy.

“The number of industries shutting down is worrisome, this congress will also seek to find ways to overcome such,” he said.

In setting the agenda for economic revival, focus would be on redefining industries to boost productivity and the depressed sectors of the economy.

Awards are also going to be offered at the congress.

“There will be an exporter of the year award and energy efficiency awards will be handed to their respective winners,” he said.
