ALLIED Timbers Zimbabwe chief executive Dr Daniel Sithole, who was recently arrested and has appeared before a Harare magistrate for flouting procurement procedure at the State-owned company, has resigned.
Dr Sithole, who had served for three years, resigned on December 31, last year.
He was charged with two counts of criminal abuse of office along with Allied Timbers Zimbabwe procurement manager Justice Chimusaro after they allegedly flouted procurement procedures and bought a $64 000 tellelogger from Izol Trading Company. Circumstances leading to their arrest were that on January 28, 2018 Allied Timbers decided to buy a tellelogger machine for use in its saw mills.
Sithole and Chimusaro allegedly used their influential positions and office to engage Izol Trading Company to provide a 225 tellelogger machine for US$64 000.
