AN Allied Timbers loss control manager who was facing charges of pointing a gun at a fellow workmate has been acquitted by a Mutare court. Kenneth Gumede had denied contravention of section 27 (b) (a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 10: 09 during trial before Mr Langton Mukwengi. Mr Matthew Chimutunga prosecuted.It was the State’s case that Gumede who owed Zodwa Chiroodza $400 had pointed a gun at her after she had approached him over the debt in his office at Allied Timbers in Mutare.
“When Chiroodza who is a personal assistant to the operations director, entered Gumede’s office asking for her money, he allegedly stood up and collected a pistol in a cardboard box and pointed it at her. He told her that if she kept on asking him of her money, he would deal with her. He later put the gun on his desk and demanded Chiroodza to leave, to which she did,” said Mr Chimutunga.
Mr Mukwengi acquitted him of the charges after a full trial. However, Chiroodza revealed that she had appealed against the acquittal. Gumede insisted that he was innocent.
