In an interview at Amakhosi Studios, Mhlanga said before the series is recorded there would be rehearsals at Amakhosi for all 13 episodes.
He said the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe had cleared the shooting of the Nyaminyami series and scriptwriters would begin working on the remaining script today.
“Scriptwriters have been called in so that they can finish the remaining nine episodes. They should be done by Monday next week and then in two weeks we shall start shooting rehearsals at Amakhosi,” said Mhlanga.
He said the recordings of the rehearsals would be shown to the Joint Operations and Implementation Committee (Jomic), the funders of the series.
Mhlanga said after rehearsals of all 13 episodes, on location shooting of the series would begin at the end of the month.
“We shall be shooting all scenes that pertain to all episodes at each location. For instance if there are scenes in episodes one, five and 10 at Amakhosi Theatre, those scenes will be shot there,” said Mhlanga.
He said the mobile studio that they had was going to help a lot, as the editing would be done on site.
“The OB studio will be essential as we can edit the production on site rather than recording and then going to the studio for editing,” said Mhlanga.
He said different locations in and around the city would be used to shoot the Nyaminyami series.
“Our main set is at a farm in Inyathi. There would be scenes at Nesbitt Castle, Emakhandeni, Burnside and also at the Bulawayo Polytechnic,” said Mhlanga.
“The reason for this is to promote Bulawayo content and I would like to thank all those who opened up their homes and facilities.”
Turning to Friday Live at Amakhosi, Mhlanga said the show would be on the screens soon as plans were in place to bring it back.
“If all goes well by the end of the year we should be able to broadcast live from here. The popular Friday Live at Amakhosi will back on screen soon,” said Mhlanga.
Last month the Nyaminyami series cast was unveiled with a mix of raw and seasoned talent.
Seasoned actors such as Alick Zulu, Precious Makhulumo, Mandla “Sinjonjo” Moyo, Bobo “Sibali” Dlamini, Sandra Ndebele and Victor Khatsiso are in the cast.
The raw talent includes Lindy “Nadia” Nyathi, Nomvuyiso “Aggie” Mabi, Lawrence “Jimalo” Mwale, Donald “Bricks” Sibanda and Bonisanani Mahayiza.
