AmaTuks not bothered by Nations Cup break: Arubi

UNIVERSITY of Pretoria goalkeeper Washington Arubi says the Africa Cup of Nations break in January will not affect the team’s rhythm.
He believes AmaTuks have capable and mature players who can withstand the break and stay focused until the Absa Premiership programme resumes in mid  February.

“We’ve been displaying good football of late and I’m happy that we’ve not lost a game in the last three matches. In camp the morale is very high especially after we dismantled high flying Polokwane City 5-1 at their home ground in mid-week.

“We’re delighted with such results. The team is improving a lot. Players are enjoying themselves and the atmosphere is electrifying,” said the former Dynamos, Highlanders and Lancashire Steel goalie.

The Warriors goalkeeper said it is too early to discuss relegation as there were many games still to be played.

Arubi said their main focus was the Bidvest Wits game today 3.30PM at Tuks Stadium in Pretoria.

“Wits is a difficult team it has good individual players but we’re prepared to match them pound for pound,” said Arubi.

Arubi believes his coaches Sammy Troughton and Sly Mosala have done well for the team since the departure of Steve Barker last month who is now AmaZulu coach.

PSL games — Today: Chiefs v Aces, Free State v Platinum, Mamelodi Sundowns v Cape Town Ajax, AmaZulu v Swallows, Polokwane v Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates v Bloemfontein Celtic.

Tomorrow: Chippa v SuperSport, Pretoria University v Wits University.
