DIMINUTIVE ex-Chicken Inn midfielder Bret Amidu says he is enjoying a new lease of life at Manica Diamonds where he is enjoying a starting place because of his top drawer performance.
The five-star performance that he showcased on Saturday when Manica Diamonds thumped army side Black Rhinos 4-0 at Gibbo Stadium confirmed that Amidu is now a polished gem, true box-to-box midfielder that any Premier Soccer League coach will be keen to have in his squad.
Amidu was very creative throughout the match and complemented the equally outstanding Talent Chamboko in the middle of the park.
It was a game where Manica Diamonds forward Fortune Binzi scored a hat-trick to inspire them to a glorious victory.
Binzi now has five goals under his belt.
Chamboko scored the other goal and provided an assist to secure a comfortable win for the diamond miners.
“I must say I’m enjoying my stay at Manica Diamonds. I have been a regular starter but I still need to work hard. However, it’s all about teamwork as we continue to hope for more positive results,” said the soft spoken Amidu who joined the Gem Boys early this year after parting ways with Chicken Inn.

Manica Diamonds will play against Chicken Inn in Week Nine hence the spying mission by the Gamecocks officials.
Asked about the game between Gems and Rhinos as well as Amidu’s show Matore said: “I can’t say much about teams that I don’t coach. I saw Manica winning four nil, Amidu has greatly improved. His pace and style of play have greatly improved. It was good performing like that for Manica Diamonds.”
Interestingly, instead of travelling back to their base in Mutare on Saturday night, the Jairos Tapers-led Manica Diamonds technical members slept over in Triangle to also watch the Chicken Inn match. — @FungaiMuderere.
