AFRO-POP sensation Ammara Brown was thrilled to receive an early Mother’s Day gift — the exciting news that she is expecting her second child, a girl. Ammara, already a proud mother of 13-year-old son Khameel, embraced the joy of starting a new journey with her boyfriend Daniel Sulen, a Norwegian national whom she introduced to the world on Valentine’s Day.
Her Mother’s Day celebrations this year were extra special, filled with the promise of a blossoming motherhood chapter and a soon-to-be expanded family.
In an interview with The Sunday Mail Entertainment, the songstress shared her gratitude for the love and support she has been receiving from her family and friends.
“My partner Daniel and my son Khameel have been the most amazing pillars throughout this pregnancy; our home truly is our heaven,” she said.
“My younger sister, Keliah, flew all the way from the United States of America and spent a month with me. People you know, such as Lorraine Guyo, Adiona Maboreke, Noxy and my favourite Ammartians, are all part of a small, powerful village that has been very intentional about protecting my peace.”
On Mother’s Day, Ammara posted a heart-warming video on social media showing her baby bump, sharing the exciting news with her fans and followers that she is expecting a baby girl.
She revealed that her daughter’s name will be Azina, an Arabian word meaning “princess warrior”.
The unborn baby’s other name will be Adele, the name of her boyfriend’s mother.
“To have a wonderful daughter growing inside of me, a magnificent son who loves boundlessly, with the love of my life right beside me — my blessings overwhelm me. I wish this for every mother out there,” Ammara said.
Her fiancé, Daniel, responded simply by saying: “Happy Mother’s Day, my love. I am so excited for this next chapter, together with you, Khameel and Azina.”
Ammara’s announcement has generated a lot of excitement among her fans, who are eagerly awaiting the new addition.
“Can’t wait to meet her blessings,” commented Lorraine Guyo on Ammara’s post.
Another comment read: “Congratulations, girl! You deserve all the good things in your life and, more importantly, to your son, new baby, your partner and everything.”
Below are excerpts from Ammara’s interview with The Sunday Mail Entertainment.

Q: Congratulations on your pregnancy, Ammara! How are you finding motherhood at this stage in your life?
A: Thank you so much. I am overwhelmed by my blessings. I have been a mother figure to my family since the age of 12, so motherhood feels perfectly natural. It is one of my favourite privileges of life as a woman.
Q: As an artiste, how has your music career been impacted by your pregnancy? Are you working on new projects, or have you taken a break?
A: I was at the end of completing my sophomore album but stopped all work when I became pregnant. This was to create an environment of peace for my “little lotus” and me to nest. The sacrifice has certainly been worth it.
Q: How are you managing your personal life during this time?
A: My wonderful manager, Chido Musasiwa, has doubled as a mother through this period. My bestie, Natalie Madyara, orchestrated my gender reveal and baby shower and that is just the tip of the iceberg.
My little brother, Andy Jr, has been as kind and loving as my father. My younger sister, Keliah, flew all the way from the USA and spent a month with me.
Q: Is your music or professional life going to change when the baby finally arrives?
A: I have been Khameel’s mom for almost 14 years. He was an integral part of the driving force that made me Zimbabwe’s biggest female artiste. Azina has only added to this fuel.
Q: Any new projects in the pipeline?
A: I am very excited to be getting back to work and releasing my best work yet. The album, titled “Flaming Lily”, is a showcase of artistic growth and my freedom as an international artiste.
