SONGBIRD Ammara Brown has been nominated for the prestigious AFRIMMA Awards 2022 (USA).
She was nominated for the Best Female Southern African Musician category, in a very competitive award category, alongside Gemma Griffiths.
Ammara is one of the most talented female artists in Zimbabwe and this is the fifth time she has been nominated.
She scooped the award back in 2018 for the Best Female Artist at the African Muzic Magazine Awards and she is hoping to bring it back home yet again.
In an interview with H-Metro, she said she was grateful for the award and she loves winning.
“This year we were nominated in Dallas, Texas.
“I am grateful that my Ammartians get to vote for AFRIMMAS.
“It feels super awesome to be surrounded by excellent peers.
“I love winning, I love women, and I love winning alongside other women,” she said.
She added that her journey has been amazing this year and she has been working with Non-Governmental organisations
“This year has been amazing for me, becoming Brand Ambassador for lndia’s Parul University was a great way to kick off the year.
“As the year unfolded I’ve had an incredible time working with NGOs such as Population Solutions for Health (PSH), Swedish Embassy, and EU, against GBV.
“I’ve recently stepped into producing music for international television and film.
“It’s all been truly liberating,” she added.
Gemma was excited about the nomination and encouraged Zimbabweans to vote for the award back home.
“I am honoured to be nominated alongside my sister Ammara Brown, Zimbabwe, let’s vote and bring this one home,’’ she said.
